What is Signal
Signal is a direct placement firm for engineering teams, small by design and family run. Britt and I built it as the opposite of the volume machine. It's precise, personal, pointed at the few hires that actually move your roadmap. She runs brand, design, and network, I run the search. You can post a job into the void yourself. You need us for the engineer who isn't looking, isn't easy to find, and is worth the search.
When you work with Signal, you work with me. Founder, recruiter, back office, and the one who screens every candidate before you see them. I fit your process instead of forcing mine, no handoffs, no offshore team behind the curtain. I place embedded, firmware, electrical, FPGA, avionics, PCB, hardware, mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineers, plus the technical program managers who hold it together. The work is in spaceflight, aerospace, nuclear, and hardware product development, mostly for small-to-mid R&D shops building real hardware. Over the last decade, the teams I've built from zero have placed 1,700-plus engineers. That history is what I bring to Signal.
Signal was born out of fifteen years watching hiring treated like a numbers game, and believing that both engineering leaders and engineers deserve better.
I'm Brandon. I spent my whole working life in sales before I found engineering recruiting after moving to Seattle in 2015. That's when I found my people. I'm not an engineer, I've just screened a thousand of them, and what I'm good at is reading the ones worth hiring: the moment an engineer starts asking the questions instead of answering them, the difference between someone who can do the job and someone who'll love it. I stepped away for a few years to keep a commitment I'd made. It was good work with good people, but it wasn't engineering and wasn't home. So I'm back, building the shop I've always wanted, lean and mine end to end. And I am excited. Our daughter is growing up fast, and I want her to watch us build it. Over the last decade, the teams I've built from zero have placed 1,700-plus engineers. Our approach is precise, but our network is deep. You don't need a job order to talk to us. In those industries, my job was to take highly complex technical concepts and make them digestible, engaging, and easy to interpret. Today, I apply that exact same lens to recruting.
